Beef Liver Dog Treats

Three ingredients — beef liver, whole wheat flour and egg — blitzed into a batter and baked, with no fillers or preservatives anywhere on the list. Ten minutes of prep and fifteen in the oven yield 36 treats, a generous ratio of effort to tail-wagging. Store-bought liver treats cost more and read like a chemistry exam.
Ingredients
1 1⁄2 | beef liver, cut into pieces |
|---|---|
1⁄2 | cup whole wheat flour |
2 | eggs |
| • | parchment paper |
Instructions
| 1. | Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 10x15-inch jellyroll pan with parchment paper. |
|---|---|
| 2. | In a food processor, finely chop the beef liver until it reaches a smooth consistency. If the food processor lacks space, transfer the chopped liver to a bowl and mix in the whole wheat flour and eggs using a wooden spoon. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan. |
| 3. | Bake the mixture in the preheated oven until the center is firm, approximately 15 minutes. Allow it to cool in the pan before slicing it into squares using a pizza cutter. The treats will have a sponge-like texture. Store them in a sealed container in the refrigerator. |
