Delight in the harmonious combination of Polish-style kluski noodles with tender cabbage, delicately seasoned and enriched with luxurious butter, delivering a robust and gratifying side dish to elevate your dining experience.

Ingredients

1 package (12 ounce) kluski noodles
3 tablespoons butter (Optional)
2 tablespoons butter (Optional)
1 sweet onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
12 teaspoon dried Italian herb seasoning
1 large head cabbage, cored and finely chopped
14 cup water
3 tablespoons butter (Optional)
salt and ground black pepper, to taste
1 pinch garlic powder, to taste (Optional)

Instructions

    1. Commence by filling a sizable pot with lightly salted water, bringing it to a vigorous boil. Add the kluski noodles and bring back to a boil. Cook the noodles uncovered, occasionally stirring, until they reach a tender yet slightly firm texture, typically 7 to 10 minutes. Drain the noodles meticulously and return them to the pot. Subsequently, blend in 3 tablespoons of butter until the noodles are thoroughly coated. Set aside the buttered noodles.
    2. In a separate generous pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Sauté the finely chopped sweet onion in the melted butter until translucent, usually taking around 5 minutes. Introduce the minced garlic and continue cooking and stirring until the garlic releases its fragrant essence, approximately 30 seconds.
    3. Incorporate the crushed red pepper flakes and dried Italian herb seasoning, ensuring even dispersion. Add the finely chopped cabbage and water, combining well. Cover the pot and cook the mixture, stirring regularly, until the cabbage reaches a tender consistency and reduces in volume by about half, typically 15 to 20 minutes. It is important to maintain some liquid in the pot.
    4. To complete the dish, gently fold the buttered kluski noodles into the cabbage mixture until fully integrated. For an additional touch of opulence, consider incorporating 3 more tablespoons of butter if desired. Season the dish with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and, optionally, a hint of garlic powder to suit your preference.
