2 | large limes |
2 | large oranges |
¾ | cup Granulated sugar |
1 | bottle Malbec wine |
⅓ | cup Brandy |
⅓ | cup Triple sec |
1-2 teaspoons Texas Pete Hotter Hot Sauce | |
1 | quart ice cold club soda |
Instructions
-
- Using a vegetable peeler, carefully peel the outermost layers of the lemons, limes, and oranges, ensuring to get a small amount of the zest without removing the white pith. Collect about 1 cup of peeled citrus zest.
- Extract the juice from the lemons, limes, and oranges. Place the juice and the peeled citrus zest in a medium saucepan. Stir in the granulated sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove it from heat. Let the citrus simple syrup steep for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer and refrigerate until chilled.
- While the simple syrup is cooling, prepare the red wine base. In a large serving pitcher, combine the bottle of Malbec wine, triple sec, brandy, and the chilled citrus simple syrup. Stir well to mix.
