Slow Cooker Christmas Glazed Ham
A delicious and festive Christmas ham recipe slow-cooked to perfection, glazed with honey, mustard, and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
6-7 | lbs smoked pork shoulder or picnic ham |
---|---|
1/4 | cup honey |
1/4 | cup spicy brown mustard |
1/4 | teaspoon ground ginger |
1/4 | teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 | teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 | juice of an orange |
1 | juice of a lemon |
1 | juice of a lime |
1 | cup ginger ale |
Instructions
1. | Prepare a 6-quart slow cooker by unwrapping the ham and discarding the flavor packet. Place the ham in the insert, flat side down. |
---|---|
2. | In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, spicy brown mustard, ground ginger, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon. Evenly smear this flavorful paste all over the ham. For enhanced flavors, prepare this step a day in advance. |
3. | Extract the juice from the orange, lemon, and lime into a sauce bowl. Add the juices over the ham along with the ginger ale. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for about 3 hours. If using a spiral cut ham without the bone, cook for a maximum of 6 hours. |
4. | After cooking, the ham can remain in the slow cooker on a warm setting. Alternatively, carve the ham, return it to the pot, and keep it warm in the flavorful sauce until ready to serve. |
