Classic Stuffed Peppers
A delicious and hearty meal of bell peppers stuffed with a flavorful meat mixture and topped with a savory tomato sauce.

1⁄2 | cup onion, chopped |
1 | tablespoon garlic, minced |
1 | egg, whisked |
1⁄2 | cup breadcrumbs |
1 | tablespoon parmesan cheese |
1 | teaspoon salt |
1 | teaspoon ground pepper |
1 | teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) |
1⁄2 | teaspoon oregano |
1⁄4 | teaspoon parsley |
1 | cup tomato sauce |
1⁄4 | cup water |
1 | tablespoon brown sugar |
1 | tablespoon vinegar |
1 | teaspoon prepared mustard |
1 | teaspoon Worcestershire sauce |
1⁄4 | teaspoon dried oregano |
1⁄4 | teaspoon dried basil |
1⁄4 | teaspoon garlic powder |
1⁄4 | teaspoon parsley flakes |
1⁄4 | teaspoon salt |
1⁄4 | teaspoon pepper |
Instructions
1. | Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. |

2. | Lightly grease a baking pan with cooking spray. |
3. | In a pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green bell peppers for 5 minutes. |
4. | Gently mix the ground beef mixture, combining all ingredients from ground beef to parsley, excluding the tomato sauce topping. |
5. | Using a tablespoon, carefully stuff each green bell pepper with the meat mixture. |
6. | Prepare the tomato sauce by mixing the tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, parsley flakes, salt, and pepper. |
7. | Spread 2 tablespoons of the tomato sauce mixture at the bottom of the baking pan. |
8. | Arrange the meat-stuffed peppers in the pan. |
9. | Drizzle the remaining tomato sauce over the stuffed peppers. |
10. | If desired, place a piece of bacon on top of each stuffed pepper. |
11. | Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes. |
12. | Serve hot, spooning some of the tomato sauce 'gravy' over each stuffed pepper. |
