Southern Fried Okra with Creamy Spicy Sauce
A classic Southern dish of crisp and flavorful fried okra served with a creamy and spicy chili sauce.
Ingredients

1 | cup all-purpose flour |
¼ | teaspoon cajun spices |
2 | lbs fresh okra, sliced ½-inch thick |
½ | cup buttermilk |
1 | cup mayonnaise |
3 | tablespoons Thai sweet chili sauce |
1 | tablespoon chili-garlic sauce |
⅛ | teaspoon ground red pepper |
1 | cup salt |
¼ | cup black pepper |
¼ | cup garlic powder |
Instructions
1. | Prepare the okra by heating oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or Dutch oven to 350 degrees F. Be cautious not to overfill the pan. |

2. | In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, House Seasoning, and Cajun spice. |
3. | Coat the okra slices by dipping them in buttermilk and then dredging them in the cornmeal-flour mixture. |
4. | Fry the coated okra in batches in the hot oil until golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. |
5. | Serve the fried okra immediately. |
6. | For the chili sauce, mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Chill the sauce before serving. |
7. | Prepare the House Seasoning by combining the specified ingredients and store it in an airtight container for future use. |
