For the biscuits

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into bits
2 ounces coarsely grated extra-sharp cheddar cheese
1 12 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
34 cup whole-milk plain yogurt
13 cup whole milk

Instructions

For preparing the dough

1. Put the oven rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a food processor, pulse together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
3. Add the cold unsalted butter pieces and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
4. Next, add the coarsely grated extra-sharp cheddar cheese and chopped fresh dill. Pulse until just combined.
5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole-milk plain yogurt and whole milk. Add this mixture to the food processor and pulse until the dough just starts to come together.
6. Using a spoon, place 12 (1/4-cup) mounds of dough about 2 inches apart on an ungreased large baking sheet. Bake until the biscuits are puffed and pale golden, for about 12 to 15 minutes.
