1 | cup evaporated milk (sweet milk) |
1⁄4 | cup shortening, melted |

Preparation:
- Begin by sifting the all-purpose flour with baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Next, gently stir in the yellow cornmeal.
- In a separate bowl, combine the well-beaten eggs with white vinegar, evaporated milk (sweet milk), and melted shortening. Slowly add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring just until the dry ingredients are moist.
- Transfer the batter into a greased 8x8x2" baking pan.
- Bake at 400°F for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
