cup packed golden brown sugar
½ cup chopped walnuts

1 ½ all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 large egg
1 ⅓ mashed very ripe bananas (about 3 large)
3 tablespoons buttermilk

Instructions

    1. Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F.
    2. Prepare an 8x8x2-inch metal baking pan by greasing it with butter and dusting with flour.
    3. In a small bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, packed golden brown sugar, chopped walnuts, and ground cinnamon; mix well to create the streusel and set it aside.
    4. In a separate medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
    5. Using an electric mixer, cream together the sugar, room temperature butter, and egg in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
    6. Mix in the mashed bananas and buttermilk until well combined.
