brown sugar (use ¾-1 cup, adjust as per sweetness preference) | |

½ | tablespoon cornstarch |
1 | tablespoon vegetable oil |

Preparation and Cooking Instructions
- Combine water, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a bowl.
- Whisk the ingredients together until well mixed.
- Marinate the chicken in half of the sauce for 2-3 hours, turning it once.
- Stir cornstarch into the remaining sauce and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir constantly until the mixture boils and thickens slightly. Cool the mixture to room temperature.
- Drain the marinade off the chicken, reserving 2 tbsp of the marinade and discard the remaining marinade.
- Stir-fry the chicken in vegetable oil until it is almost done.
- Add the reserved 2 tbsp of marinade and continue stir-frying until the chicken is fully cooked and glazed.
- Serve the teriyaki chicken over hot rice with the cooled teriyaki sauce.
