Italian Sausage Stuffed Green Bell Peppers
Delicious and savory stuffed green bell peppers filled with Italian sausage and melted cheese, baked to perfection in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
1 | tablespoon vegetable oil |

1 | lb Italian pork sausage, sweet, casing removed |
1 | medium onion, chopped |
1 | teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed |
1 | cup part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded |
4 | medium green peppers, seeded and cut in half lengthwise |
2 | cups Prego Traditional pasta sauce |
Instructions
1. | In a medium skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add Italian pork sausage and cook until browned, stirring to separate meat. Stir in chopped onions and crushed dried oregano, cooking until tender. Remove excess fat from the skillet. Mix in shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese. |

2. | Preheat the oven to 400°F. Arrange the seeded and halved green peppers in a 3-qt. shallow baking dish or roasting pan. Fill each pepper with the sausage mixture. Pour Prego Traditional pasta sauce over the stuffed peppers. Cover the dish. |
3. | Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until the peppers are tender. |
