2 | tablespoons olive oil |
1 1⁄2 | cups heavy cream |
1 | cup Parmesan cheese |
1⁄2 | cup Panko bread crumbs |
1 | small onion, chopped |
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste |

1. | Remove stalks and leaves from the kohlrabi, reserving 1-2 leaves. Peel the kohlrabi and slice horizontally into ¼-inch slices. Chop the leaves, removing the thick stems. |
2. | In a small bowl, combine Parmesan cheese and Panko breadcrumbs. Grease the bottom and sides of a small casserole dish with olive oil. |
3. | Layer half of the sliced kohlrabi in the casserole dish as the first layer. Sprinkle with half of the onions and chopped leaves. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients. Pour the heavy cream over the top, allowing it to seep down into the layers. |
4. | Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top. Melt the butter and drizzle over the breadcrumbs. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes to an hour, adjusting for variations in oven temperatures. |
