This hearty casserole combines tender ground veal with creamy mashed potatoes for a flavorful dish that will satisfy your taste buds.

2 tablespoons butter
700 g ground veal
1 chopped onion
1 12 cups water
2 chopped celery ribs
1 shredded carrot
700 g cubed potatoes
200 g celery root, cubed
2 tablespoons butter
salt
pepper
3 eggs, divided

Instructions

    1. In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the ground veal and chopped onion, and brown the meat until cooked through.
    2. Stir in water, chopped celery ribs, shredded carrot, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer over low heat for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    3. Transfer the meat mixture to a casserole dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
    4. In a separate pot, boil the cubed potatoes and celery root until they are tender, approximately 20 minutes.
    5. Once cooked, drain the potatoes and celery root, and mash them together. Mix in 2 tablespoons of butter, salt, pepper, and the egg yolks until creamy.
    6. In a bowl, beat the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Gently fold the egg whites into the potato mixture, creating a fluffy consistency.
    7. Spread the potato mixture over the meat in the casserole dish, covering it completely.
    8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 minutes, or until the casserole is golden and bubbling.
