Ingredients

For the pie

2 crescent rolls (16-ounce containers)
2 pounds hamburger
salt and pepper to taste
½-1 cup spaghetti sauce
6-8 slices slices of cheese
1 14-ounce can can of whole kernel corn
4 cups cups of mashed potatoes
paprika or parsley flakes for sprinkling

Instructions

  • For assembling the pie

    1. Begin by flattening the crescent rolls and arranging them in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
    2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef, season it with salt and pepper, then drain off any excess fat.
    3. Layer the cooked ground beef over the pastry crust in the baking dish.
    4. Spread the spaghetti sauce evenly over the meat layer.
    5. Arrange the cheese slices on top of the meat layer, followed by a layer of whole kernel corn.
    6. Spread the mashed potatoes on top of the corn layer.
    7. Sprinkle the pie with either parsley or paprika for a colorful garnish.
    8. Bake the shepherd's hamburger pie in a preheated 375°F oven for approximately 25 minutes, or until the bottom crust is fully cooked.
