Instructions

- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup of milk.
- In a double boiler, combine the cornstarch mixture with 1 1/2 cups of milk. Cook until the mixture is thick and smooth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Gradually add the slightly beaten eggs to the hot mixture, ensuring they are fully incorporated.
- Using an electric mixer, blend sugar, salt, and evaporated milk in a large bowl until smooth.
- Mix in the hot cornstarch mixture, ensuring everything is well combined.
- Add whipping cream, remaining milk, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.
- Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2 gallon electric or hand freezer container.
- Insert the paddle and cover with the lid.
- Place the container in the freezer and surround it with layers of ice and salt until fully covered.
- Crank the freezer until the ice cream is firm.
- Remove the paddle.
- Drain any excess water from the container.
- Add more crushed ice and salt around the container.
- Cover with a towel and store in a cool area until ready to serve.
- Enjoy 1 1/2 gallons of the most delicious ice cream you've ever tasted.
