---|---|
⅓ | cup white sugar |
3 | tablespoons cornstarch |
1 ½ | teaspoons ground cinnamon |
1 ½ | dulce de leche |
5 | large baking apples - peeled, cored, and sliced |
1 | pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie |
Instructions
For the Apple Pie | |
---|---|
1. | Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). |
2. | Combine white sugar, cornstarch, and ground cinnamon in a bowl until well mixed. Add dulce de leche and stir until evenly combined with the sugar mixture. Gently fold in the sliced apples until they are thoroughly coated. |
3. | On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crusts. Line a 9-inch pie plate with one crust. Fill the pie with the apple mixture, mounding it in the center. Cover with the second crust, then pinch the edges together to seal. Use a sharp knife to create several slits in the top crust. |
4. | Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden, around 20 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking until the apples are hot and bubbling, for an additional 25 to 30 minutes. |
