Brown Butter Rum Frosting

A delicious and decadent frosting with a rich brown butter and rum flavor.

Ingredients

14 cup unsalted butter
1 cup icing sugar
2 tablespoons dark rum

Instructions

    1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, brown the unsalted butter until it separates and the milk solids sizzle. Be careful not to burn the butter; it should have a toasted aroma. Transfer the browned butter to a small ramekin and refrigerate until it hardens, approximately 2 hours. This brown butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
    2. When you are ready to make the frosting, remove the browned butter from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour. In a mixer, whip the browned butter and icing sugar together on low speed. Add 2 tablespoons of dark rum to the mixture and continue whipping until well combined.
