Caramel German Chocolate Bars
Indulge in these decadent caramel German chocolate bars, reminiscent of the classic German chocolate cake but conveniently handheld for a delightful treat.
Ingredients
1 | individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped |

1/3 | cup sweetened condensed milk |
1 | German chocolate cake mix |
3/4 | cup butter, melted |
1/2 | cup sweetened condensed milk |
1 | cup semisweet chocolate chips |
1 | cup chopped walnuts |
Instructions
1. | Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish. |

2. | In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the individually wrapped caramels with 1/3 cup of sweetened condensed milk in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Set aside. |
3. | In a large bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk. Stir the mixture thoroughly. Spread half of the cake mix mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. |
4. | Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes. |
5. | Remove the baking dish from the oven and generously cover the partially baked mixture with the melted caramel, semisweet chocolate chips, and chopped walnuts. Spread the remaining cake mix mixture on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes. |
