Cheddar-Stuffed Meatloaf
This delectable meatloaf is filled with rich Cheddar cheese, creating a savory twist on a classic dish. For a variation, sautéed onions and mushrooms can be used as a delightful substitute.
Ingredients
2 | pounds ground beef |
---|---|
¾ | cup fresh bread crumbs |
½ | cup minced onion |
2 | large eggs, beaten |
1 ½ | teaspoons salt |
1 ½ | teaspoons ground black pepper |
3 | cups shredded Cheddar cheese |
Instructions
1. | Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). |
---|---|
2. | In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, fresh bread crumbs, minced onion, beaten eggs, salt, and ground black pepper. Thoroughly mix the ingredients to form a cohesive mixture. |
3. | On a sheet of wax paper, gently pat out the meat mixture into a generous 14x18-inch rectangle. |
4. | Evenly spread the shredded Cheddar cheese over the meat, ensuring a 3/4 inch border along the edges. Carefully roll the meat into a log, encasing the cheese to create a pinwheel loaf. Seal the ends by pressing the meat together. Transfer the meatloaf to a 10x15-inch baking dish. |
5. | Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until fully cooked. To confirm doneness, use an instant-read thermometer; the center of the meatloaf should register at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). |
