Ingredients

12 cup butter
13 cup white sugar
14 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 package (8 ounce) package cream cheese
14 cup white sugar
1 egg
12 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
13 cup white sugar
12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
14 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
    2. In a bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of butter, 1/3 cup of white sugar, a hint of vanilla extract, and all-purpose flour. Press the resulting crust mixture firmly onto the flat base of a 9-inch springform pan. Set it aside.
    3. Prepare the filling by blending together an 8-ounce package of cream cheese and 1/4 cup of white sugar. Beat in an egg and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour this creamy mixture over the prepared crust.
    4. In another bowl, combine 1/3 cup of white sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Toss the thinly sliced, peeled, and cored apples with this sugar-cinnamon mix. Spread the coated apple slices evenly over the cream cheese filling.
    5. Bake the torte for 10 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and bake for an additional 25 minutes. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the top of the torte and continue baking until the almonds are lightly browned, and the apples turn tender. Allow the torte to cool before removing it from the pan.
