Ingredients: 9

Tender and flavorful pulled pork slow-cooked to perfection, great for any occasion!

Ingredients

4 lbs pork butt or pork roast
3 small onions, chopped
4 garlic cloves, crushed
4 celery ribs
24 ounces root beer
hickory seasoning, to taste
4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce
16 soft sandwich buns

Instructions

    1. Prepare the slow cooker by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray for easy cleanup.
    2. Begin by trimming the excess fat from the pork. Place the meat in the slow cooker.
    3. Layer the pork with 3 cloves of crushed garlic, 2 small chopped onions, celery ribs cut to fit in the cooker, and hickory seasoning to your liking.
    4. Pour the root beer over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
    5. Cook on high for 6 hours or low for 8 hours until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart.
    6. Once cooked, remove the pork from the cooker. Use a fork to shred the meat, removing any excess fat.
    7. Mix chopped onions, garlic, dark brown sugar, and your favorite barbecue sauce. Add this mixture to the shredded pork.
    8. Refrigerate the pork overnight to allow the flavors to meld. Add more sauce if desired.
    9. Reheat the pork in the microwave and serve on soft sandwich buns.
    10. ***Tip: This dish freezes well if you happen to have any leftovers!
