Ingredients for Crunchy Sesame Honey Cookies

1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon water
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup water
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped pistachios (optional)

Instructions

  • For Making Crunchy Sesame Honey Cookies

    1. Scatter the sesame seeds on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until light golden brown.
    2. Combine the honey with 1 tablespoon of water and use the mixture to moisten the sesame seeds. Spread them evenly on a saucer.
    3. In a bowl, stir together the sifted flour, baking powder, and sugar.
    4. Cut in the softened unsalted butter until the mixture resembles pie crust dough. Gradually add 2/3 cup of water and mix until the dough is smooth.
    5. Form walnut-sized balls of dough and dip one side of each ball into the sesame seed mixture to coat. You may lightly touch the bottom side with pistachios if desired. Then, place them on greased baking sheets, sesame side up.
    6. Bake the cookies at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
