For the cake

1 package (18 ounce) yellow cake mix
1 box (3 ½ ounce) vanilla instant pudding mix
1 cup water
4 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
3 medium granny smith apples, peeled and coarsely chopped

For the caramel drizzle

20 caramels, unwrapped
3 tablespoons milk
1 container (8 ounce) whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  • For the cake

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and generously flour a 10-inch bundt pan.
    2. In a large bowl, beat together the yellow cake mix, vanilla instant pudding mix, water, eggs, and vegetable oil on low speed until well blended. Increase speed to high and beat for 2 minutes. Gently fold in the coarsely chopped apples. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
    3. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then carefully remove it and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  • For the caramel drizzle

    1. In a microwavable bowl, combine the unwrapped caramels and milk. Microwave on HIGH for 1-1/2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and well blended. Let the caramel mixture cool for 10 minutes to slightly thicken. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
    2. Serve the cake topped with thawed whipped topping.
