Ingredients

2 all-purpose flour
1 ¾ sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
5 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 cup strong brewed coffee
¾ cup sour cream
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
4 tablespoons milk

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
    2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder. Create a well in the center and add the melted unsweetened chocolate, strong brewed coffee, sour cream, and vegetable oil. Mix thoroughly until well combined, then spread the batter into the prepared pan.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan.
    4. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramels and milk. Heat the mixture in the microwave until the caramels are melted. Stir until smooth. Using a wooden spoon, poke holes into the cake and pour the caramel mixture into the holes.
