Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
12 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 12 cups white sugar
12 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
14 teaspoon salt
1 14 cups milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
34 cup chopped walnuts
13 cup whole almonds
4 tablespoons white sugar

Instructions

    1. Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare the muffin tin by greasing the cups or lining them with paper muffin liners.
    2. In a medium bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, white sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, combine milk, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well. Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
    3. Fill each muffin cup about 3/4 full with the batter. Gently press whole almonds into the tops of the unbaked muffins. Sprinkle the muffins with white sugar for a sweet, crunchy topping.
    4. Bake the muffins in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
