2 all-purpose gold medal flour
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon sea salt
¾ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup caramel bits
sea salt, for sprinkling on cookies

Instructions

    1. Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with a Silpat baking mat or parchment paper, and set it aside for later.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose gold medal flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and sea salt. Whisk together thoroughly and set the dry mixture aside.
    3. Using a stand mixer, cream the unsalted butter and sugars until the mixture is smooth and creamy, which should take about 3 minutes. Add the large egg and vanilla extract, beating until well combined. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the mix.
    4. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and caramel bits. Shape the cookie dough into tablespoon-sized balls and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie. Before baking, sprinkle a touch of sea salt on the top of each cookie.
    5. Bake the cookies for approximately 10 minutes, or until they turn a light golden brown around the edges. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for two minutes before transferring them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
    6. Note: When looking for caramel bits, you can find Kraft Caramel Bits at Target. If unavailable, you can substitute with caramel squares by chopping them into smaller pieces for this recipe.
