---|---|
1 | (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple in juice, undrained |
2 | medium bananas, peeled and mashed |
10 | maraschino cherries, chopped |
2 | teaspoons maraschino cherry juice |
½ | cup water |
½ | cup canola oil |
1 | teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 | teaspoon cinnamon |
1 | (16 ¼ ounce) can cream cheese frosting |
Instructions
1. | Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. |
---|---|
2. | In a large mixing bowl, carefully combine all the ingredients until they are thoroughly mixed. |
3. | Divide the batter equally between two greased 9" round cake pans. |
4. | Place the pans in the middle of the oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. |
5. | Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes. Then, carefully remove the cakes from the pans and let them cool completely on wire racks. |
6. | Position one cake as the base on a serving plate and generously frost it with cream cheese frosting, focusing on a heavier application on the top. |
7. | Gently place the second cake on top of the frosted base to create a layered effect. |
8. | Frost the top cake generously to blend with the bottom layer, creating a visually appealing two-tier cake. |
9. | NOTE: If the cakes have domed tops, use a long knife to level them before frosting to ensure a uniform appearance. |
