1⁄2 | teaspoon sesame oil |
1 | egg |
1⁄2 | teaspoon salt |
1⁄4 | teaspoon ground black pepper |
1 | teaspoon garlic powder |
1⁄4 | cup sliced scallions |
30 | to 35 wonton wrappers |
6 | cups chicken broth |
1 | cup strips of boiled chicken meat |
2 | tablespoons fish sauce |
1⁄4 | cup chopped scallions |
1⁄4 | cup sliced shallots, for garnishing |
Instructions
For the wontons and wonton assembly | |

1. | Prepare the filling by coarsely chopping the shrimp and mixing it with ground pork, minced onion, sesame oil, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and sliced scallions until well combined. |
2. | Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper. |
3. | Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper into a triangle, and press to seal. Fold the two opposite sides to the middle, creating a filled dumpling. Repeat until all the filling is used. |
For the soup | |
1. | In a soup pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. |
2. | Carefully add the dumplings, ensuring they are spaced to prevent sticking. Simmer for a few minutes. |
3. | Stir in the boiled chicken meat and season the soup with fish sauce. |
4. | Transfer the soup to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped scallions and sliced shallots. |
