Instructions
Preparation of Custard Filling: | |

1. | Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan. Gradually add scalded milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. |
2. | Temper the beaten eggs by adding a small amount of the hot mixture to them, then quickly whisk together. |

4. | Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. |

Assembly of the Pie: | |
