Recipe

Sweet, salty, tangy and green all on one crust: basil pesto instead of tomato sauce, sliced Bosc pear that caramelizes lightly in the oven, crumbled goat cheese melting against mozzarella, and bacon doing what bacon does. Twenty-five minutes on a ready crust, eight slices, and the pizza to make for people who claim they don't like fruit on pizza.
For the pizza | |
|---|---|
5 | slices bacon, cut into bite-size pieces |
1⁄2 | Bosc pear, sliced |
2 | tablespoons basil pesto |
1 | 12-inch pre-baked packaged pizza crust |
1 | cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided |
1⁄4 | cup crumbled goat cheese |
For preparing the pizza | |
|---|---|
| 1. | Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). |
| 2. | In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and stir the bacon until completely browned, approximately 10 minutes. Remove the bacon using a slotted spoon and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain. |
| 3. | Spread the basil pesto evenly over the pizza crust, ensuring coverage up to within half an inch of the edges. Sprinkle approximately half of the mozzarella cheese over the pesto. Arrange the bacon pieces and pear slices on top of the cheese, then dot with crumbled goat cheese and finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese. |
| 4. | Bake the pizza in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted, about 9 to 10 minutes. |
