Ingredients
1 | habanero chile, seeded and thinly sliced |
---|---|
¼ | teaspoon kosher salt |
½ | cup mayonnaise |
1 | tablespoon extra-hot prepared horseradish |
2 | teaspoons lemon juice |
1 | tablespoon apple cider vinegar, or to taste |
¼ | teaspoon ground white pepper |
⅛ | teaspoon garlic powder |
2 | (6 ounce) swordfish steaks |
2 | teaspoons olive oil |
salt to taste | |
1 | tablespoon sliced green onions |
Instructions
1. | Begin by gathering all the necessary ingredients. |
---|---|
2. | Utilize a mortar and pestle to crush the habanero and kosher salt into a fine paste. |
3. | In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, extra-hot prepared horseradish, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, ground white pepper, and garlic powder. |
4. | For a smooth consistency, strain the sauce through a fine mesh strainer to remove the pepper skins and any lingering particles of horseradish. Set the sauce aside for later use. |
5. | Preheat a charcoal grill until the coals are extremely hot. |
6. | Coat the swordfish steaks on both sides with olive oil and season them with salt. |
7. | Place the seasoned swordfish steaks on the preheated grill, flipping them as necessary, until they exhibit a slight springiness to the touch. Remove from the heat. |
8. | Present the grilled swordfish on a plate as desired and generously top with the homemade white hot sauce. Garnish with sliced green onions. |
