For the glazed spare ribs

36 ounces Chinese-style spareribs (2 pounds 4 ounces)
12 lemon, seeds removed
12 small orange, seeds removed
1 1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
2 2 garlic cloves, peeled
1 1 small onion, chopped
2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons rice wine
12 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon Thai seven-spice powder
2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

  • For the glazed spare ribs

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the spareribs in a wide baking pan, cover loosely with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
    2. In a food processor, combine the lemon, orange, ginger, garlic, onion, soy sauce, rice wine, seven-spice powder, honey, and sesame oil. Process until smooth.
    3. After 30 minutes, remove the foil from the spare ribs and pour off any excess fat. Spoon the pureed mixture over the spare ribs, tossing to coat evenly.
    4. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and roast the ribs for about 40 minutes, turning and basting occasionally, until golden brown. Serve hot.
