For the sauce | |
1 1⁄2 | cups ketchup |
3⁄4 | cup brown sugar, packed |
1⁄2 | cup vinegar |
1⁄2 | cup honey |
1.33 | cup soy sauce |
1 1⁄2 | teaspoons ground ginger powder |
1 | teaspoon seasoning salt |
3⁄4 | teaspoon mustard powder |
3⁄4 | teaspoon garlic powder |
1⁄4 | teaspoon fresh ground black pepper |
1 | pinch cayenne pepper (to taste, adjust to suit heat level) |
Instructions
For preparing the ribs | |

1. | Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. |
2. | Grease two 13 x 9-inch baking pans fitted with two racks. |
3. | Cut the pork spareribs into serving size pieces of 2 or 3 ribs. |
4. | Lightly season the ribs on both sides with salt, using either white salt or seasoned salt. |
5. | Arrange the ribs meaty side up on the racks in the pans. |
6. | Cover the pans tightly with foil. |
7. | Bake for approximately 1-1/4 hours or until the meat is tender. |
8. | Remove all fat from the pans, then place the ribs back into the pans. |
For preparing the sauce | |
1. | In a bowl, thoroughly combine the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, soy sauce, ground ginger powder, seasoning salt, mustard powder, garlic powder, and fresh ground black pepper. |
2. | Adjust the cayenne pepper to taste for extra heat, if desired. |
3. | Evenly distribute the sauce over the ribs. |
4. | Place the ribs back in the oven and bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, basting occasionally. |
