2 | tablespoons butter or margarine |

Baking Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grease a 1 1/2-quart shallow baking dish.
- Layer half of the drained and sliced yams, all of the peeled, cored, and sliced apples, and the remaining yams and raisins in the baking dish.
- In a small saucepan, combine apple juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, ground allspice, and ground cinnamon. Stir until smooth.
- Add butter or margarine to the saucepan and stir over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer for 2 minutes or until thickened.
- Pour the glaze over the yam and apple mixture in the baking dish.
- Lightly grease a piece of foil and loosely cover the baking dish with the greased side facing down.
- If preparing ahead of time, refrigerate the dish for up to 5 hours.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
- Adjust the baking temperature if needed to accommodate other dishes in the oven, ensuring to modify the baking time accordingly.
