¼ | teaspoon Pernod |
1 | ounce Velvet Falernum |
4 | ounces Donn's Mix (see above) |
2 | teaspoons grenadine |
A few dashes Angostura bitters | |
3 | cups ice |
2 | sprigs fresh mint, for garnish |
Instructions
1. | Prepare Donn's Mix: |

2. | In a small saucepan, create a simple syrup by combining sugar, water, and cinnamon sticks. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1 to 3 minutes, then remove from heat. Allow the syrup to infuse for up to 2 hours, then strain it into a separate container. |
3. | To complete the mix, mix one part of the infused syrup with two parts freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. |
4. | Prepare the cocktail: |
5. | Combine all ingredients, excluding the mint, in a blender, saving the ice for last. |
6. | Blend on high speed for 5 to 7 seconds, ensuring the crushed ice reaches a consistent size. Pour the mixture into two glasses and garnish with fresh mint sprigs. |
