These classic buttermilk biscuits are big, flaky, and tender. They are a breeze to make with ingredients you most likely have at hand. Perfect for breakfast or any meal of the day.

2 | flour, plus more for dusting |
---|---|
1 | tablespoon baking powder |
1 | teaspoon baking soda |
½ | teaspoon salt |
½ | teaspoon white sugar |
⅓ | cup cold butter, cubed |
1 | cup buttermilk |
Instructions
1. | Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside. |
---|---|
2. | In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Cut in the cold cubed butter. Add the buttermilk and gently stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing. |
3. | Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a circle about 1-inch thick. Use a 3.5-inch biscuit cutter to cut out the biscuits. Arrange 6 biscuits in a circle on the prepared baking sheet, with 1 in the center and edges touching. |
4. | Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven until the bottoms are browned and the tops are starting to brown, for about 11 to 14 minutes. |
