A delightful breakfast casserole featuring layers of bread, cream cheese, and a sweet custard that is perfect for a special morning meal.

Ingredients

8 bread, cubed
2 (8 ounce) cream cheese, cubed
12 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
1 cup maple syrup
12 cup pecans, chopped (optional)

Instructions

    1. Begin by layering half of the bread cubes at the bottom of a generously greased 9 X 13 casserole dish.
    2. Next, evenly scatter the cubed cream cheese over the bread layer, followed by arranging the remaining half of the bread cubes on top.
    3. In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten eggs, milk, and maple syrup until well blended. Slowly pour this mixture over the prepared casserole in the dish.
    4. Cover the casserole dish and place it in the refrigerator to chill and marinate overnight.
    5. The next morning, allow the casserole to come to room temperature. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top of the casserole, gently pressing them into the surface using a spatula.
    6. Bake the casserole in a preheated 350-degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes, until it is golden brown and set.
    7. To serve, offer additional maple syrup on the side according to preference.
