Classic Maryland Crab Cakes

Image for recipe: Classic Maryland Crab Cakes

Ingredients: 7

These Maryland Crab Cakes are a timeless recipe featuring pure crab meat without any fillers or heavy spices. Passed down through generations in my family, this recipe is a true culinary treasure.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons pancake mix
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
3 tablespoons mayonnaise, or to taste
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 pound cooked crabmeat, flaked
3 vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

    1. In a medium bowl, combine the pancake mix, mustard, mayonnaise, beaten egg, and fresh parsley until thoroughly mixed. Gently fold in the flaked crabmeat and shape the mixture into 3-inch patties.
    2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat, ensuring the oil reaches halfway up the sides of the crab cakes. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet. Fry until each side turns a golden brown, approximately 8 minutes per side. If the patties are browning too quickly, lower the heat. Drain the crab cakes on paper towels, and serve promptly.
