A delicious and comforting traditional Filipino dish, classic picadillo is a savory blend of ground pork, potatoes, and vegetables simmered in flavorful seasonings.

1 minced onion
3 minced garlic
500 ground pork
2 tablespoons Patis or fish sauce
Black ground pepper
3 cups water
Salt for taste
3 -4 medium medium potatoes, peeled and diced
2 strings pechay
12 piece red or green bell pepper

Instructions

    1. Commence by heating 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté the minced onions until translucent, then add the minced garlic, being cautious not to burn either ingredient. Incorporate the ground pork, stirring intermittently to prevent sticking. Season with black ground pepper and Patis, and ensure the meat is thoroughly cooked.
    2. Once the meat is cooked, introduce the diced potatoes and water to the pot. Cover and simmer on low heat for approximately 20 minutes, stirring occasionally and adjusting water levels as necessary. When the potatoes are nearly fork-tender, add the pechay, cover, and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes. Adjust seasonings to your liking. Remove from heat and stir in the bell peppers before serving.
