Instructions
Preparation and Baking | |
---|---|
1. | Slice the French bread into 20 slices, each 1-inch thick. Arrange the slices in a generously buttered 13x9 or larger baking dish, in two rows, overlapping the slices. |
2. | In a large bowl, combine the eggs, whipping cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Beat the mixture with a whisk until well blended but not foamy. |
3. | Pour the mixture over the bread slices, ensuring all slices are covered and spooning some in between the slices. |
4. | Cover the dish and refrigerate overnight. |
5. | The next day, preheat the oven to 350°F. Make the praline topping. |
6. | Praline Topping: In a saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, chopped pecans, light corn syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, then pour and spread the mixture evenly over the top of the bread slices. |
7. | Bake the casserole, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes or until puffed and golden. |
