Crafting the Infused Oil
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In an ovenproof glass bowl with a lid, combine cooking oil, dried crushed red pepper flakes, garlic cloves, and slices of gingerroot.
- Bake in the oven for 1 hour, or until the garlic cloves and gingerroot are golden brown.
- Remove the bowl from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes.
- Line a strainer with a coffee filter or several layers of cheesecloth, then carefully strain the infused oil into a clean glass jar. Refrigerate to chill.
- The oil should appear clear and vibrant. This recipe yields approximately 7/8 cups of chili-infused oil.
