Ingredients

For the marinade

3 scallions, sliced
2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon fresh gingerroot, grated and peeled
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
12 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
34 lb beef tenderloin, cut into 16 strips

Instructions

  • For preparing the skewers

    1. Preheat a grill. If you are using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes.
    2. In a gallon-size sealable plastic bag, combine all of the ingredients, including the beef. Seal the bag, squeezing out the air. Marinate for 15 minutes.
    3. With tongs, remove the beef from the marinade; discard the remaining marinade. On each of 16, six-inch metal or wooden skewers, thread one beef strip, piercing the beef in several places.
    4. Grill until cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side.
    5. Serve with either Chinese mustard, duck sauce, and/or soy sauce for dipping the skewers.
