Ingredients

For the casserole

2 ½ cups seasoned croutons
14 ounces Jimmy Dean sausage, browned and drained
8 ounces pre-shredded cheddar cheese
4 eggs
¾ teaspoon dry mustard
2 12 cups milk
1 (10 ½ ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, diluted
12 cup milk

Instructions

  • For the casserole

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. Spread the seasoned croutons in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
    3. In a skillet, brown the Jimmy Dean sausage, drain, and layer over the croutons in the baking dish.
    4. Sprinkle the pre-shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage in the baking dish.
    5. In a bowl, beat the eggs with dry mustard and 2 1/2 cups of milk. Pour this mixture over the layers in the baking dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
    6. Before baking, dilute the cream of mushroom soup with 1/2 cup of milk and pour over the casserole.
    7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours until the casserole is set. Let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes before cutting into servings.
