1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 can (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 jar (4 ½ ounce) jar sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon dry crushed red pepper
8 ounces ounces rotini pasta, cooked
3 cups cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • For Baked Rotini

    1. Begin by cooking the ground beef, onion, and green pepper in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat and return the mixture to the skillet.
    2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, mushrooms, salt, basil, garlic powder, oregano, and crushed red pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
    3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    4. Add the cooked rotini pasta and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese into the skillet. Stir until well combined.
    5. Transfer the mixture into a lightly greased 13x9-inch baking dish.
    6. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the dish.
    7. Bake the rotini at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
