Ingredients: 6

A classic recipe for homemade white bread that is soft, fluffy, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

5 cups flour, sifted
1 (5 g) package instant yeast
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 warm milk

Instructions

    1. In a large bowl or in the bowl of a large electric mixer with a dough hook, combine 3 cups of flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
    2. Add the melted butter and warm milk to the mixture.
    3. Using a wooden spoon or the regular paddle of your electric mixer, beat the mixture for 4-5 minutes until smooth with no lumps. If using an electric mixer, switch to the dough hook and gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour. If mixing by hand, gradually incorporate the flour until a soft dough forms.
    4. Turn the dough onto a countertop or bread board for kneading. Adjust the flour as needed during the 10-minute kneading process until the dough is smooth and elastic.
    5. Cover the dough and let it rest and rise for one hour.
    6. Punch down the dough, knead by hand for a few minutes, then let it rest for another 10 minutes.
    7. Grease 2 medium loaf pans. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions, shaping each into a ball. Place 3 balls of dough in each loaf pan.
    8. Cover the pans with a clean tea towel and allow the dough to rise until it reaches about 2 inches above the pan rim, approximately 2 hours depending on room temperature.
    9. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30-40 minutes, adjusting the baking time based on the size of the pans being used.
    10. Once baked, transfer the loaves onto a wire rack to cool. Optionally, brush the tops with melted butter to soften the crust.
